Beginning December 10, Residential Life and Sharing With A Purpose (SWAP) are providing a new service for students interested to donate old or unused items before heading home for the winter break. Similar to the Share our Stuff move-out drive each May, the collection service makes it easy to divert unneeded items like clothing, kitchenware, and dorm supplies from the landfill. Collection containers will be placed in the following locations: Eliot Hall lobby on the South 40, the Village’s dining hallway and Village East lobby lounge for upperclassmen living on campus, and the first floor hallway of Greenway and 6300 Enright multipurpose room for off-campus residents. Students, staff, and faculty are also encouraged to donate items in bins at the SWAP’s South 40 storefront, the Trading Post.
SWAP is a student-owned and operated 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to facilitate the open exchange of physical materials and knowledge-based resources among members of the WashU and greater St. Louis communities. SWAP annually collects reusable items left by students and distributes them for free at the Trading Post.
