Share Our Stuff Campaign Supports Regional Community

Share Our Stuff is a university-wide effort designed to make it easy for students to donate unwanted items as they pack up and move out at the end of the school year. This campaign collects a wide variety of items in a manner that benefits our community and keeps usable goods out of the landfill.  These goods are used and reused by people within our campus community and throughout the surrounding neighborhoods. Local partners include Goodwill and Operation Food Search, as well as the student-run organization, Sharing with a Purpose (SWAP).

Throughout May 2017, collaborators worked together to collect thousands of donations, repurposing food, clothes, household items, electronics, books and office supplies. In sheer weight, an estimated 45,000 pounds of materials were collected for reuse. Operation Food Search reported that they collected enough food to feed 687 people for one day and Goodwill estimated 2,882 individual donations of clothes and household items.

A special thanks to all of the following partners who made this effort possible: Residential Life, Quadrangle Housing, Facilities Planning and Management, WFF, the Campus Bookstore, Environmental Health and Safety, the Community Service Office and the Office of Government and Community Relations, Goodwill, Operation Food Search, and Sharing With A Purpose (SWAP).
