The past 16 months have turned all of our routines on their heads, even impacting many of our sustainable habits. Whether you’ve fallen off the wagon or are getting on for the first time, the Plastic Free Ecochallenge is a great opportunity to get on track with sustainability goals.
There are myriad ways to curb plastic use and Ecochallenge has divided suggested actions into six categories to help you organize your goals: food, personal care, community, lifestyle, pets, and family. Explore the different categories and select one-time or ongoing actions that you would like to engage in to cut down your plastic use and help the WashU Plastic Free team earn points.
The Office of Sustainability has organized two kick-off events, one virtual and one in-person, and other events throughout the month that can get you points too. Keep an eye on our Instagram for announcements and check out our Event page for a list of events.
If you’ve never participated in an Ecochallenge event before, worry not! It’s easy to use. There is a brief introductory video available or you can jump right in and explore the platform.
Even well into July, it’s not too late to join this Ecochallenge! You have until July 31st to complete as many actions as you can. We will be giving out on-brand prizes (like bamboo reusable cutlery, bar soaps, loose leaf tea, and reusable produce bags) to participants throughout the month.
Opportunities to win raffled prizes*:
- Check in at least 20 times throughout July
- Be among the top half of points earners at the midpoint of the month
- Be among the top 5 points earners at the end of the competition
- Attend sessions throughout the month
Don’t miss out on this opportunity to engage with the WashU community and do some good!
*Must be WashU student, staff, faculty, or contractor to win prizes.
