Wondering what to do with your old or unworkable holiday lights? You can recycle them! The annual Holiday Lights Recycling Drive returns to Washington University this winter. The drive runs December 14 through January 31. A holiday tradition, the WashU community brings in hundreds of pounds of holiday lights to responsibly recycle – let’s do it again this year!
Collection bins can be found in the following locations:
- School of Medicine Campus:
Clayton/Taylor parking garage (between passenger elevators on the 1st level)
FLTC (main floor entrance)
4444 Forest Park (main floor lobby)
4480 Clayton Avenue
Metro Garage at Children’s and Taylor (on the link at Metro Garage entrance)
McDonnell Science Building outside of the Shell Cafe lobby
BJCIH (1st floor entrance)
- Danforth Campus:
DUC (DUC & Event Management* Ste 160)
Office of Sustainability* (Myers Hall, ground level by door, South 40)
Millbrook breakroom (Facilities Department)
- Office of Public Affairs: 276 N. Skinker Blvd, 3rd Floor (above Kayak’s Coffee)*
- West Campus: Third floor garage entrance
- North Campus: Cafeteria
Please remove light strands from bags and boxes and place them loose directly into the bins.

Save the Date: A Recycling Extravaganza event is being held at the Missouri Botanical Garden on Saturday, January 12, 2019, 11 am – 2 pm. Responsibly recycle and dispose of these hard-to-recycle items: Electronics, bicycles, clothing and shoes, confidential papers, furniture, prescription medications, batteries and light bulbs.
