Wondering what to do with your old or unworkable holiday lights? You can recycle them! The annual Holiday Lights Recycling Drive returns to Washington University this winter. The drive runs December 8 through January 31. Last year, participants diverted 1,252 pounds of holiday lights from our local landfills – let’s collect even more this year!
Collection bins can be found in the following locations:
- School of Medicine Campus: Clayton/Taylor parking garage, FLTC, 4444 Forest Park, 4480 Clayton Avenue, Metro Garage at Children’s and Taylor, CSRB link, PEDS building, McDonnell Science Building outside of the Shell Cafe lobby, and BJCIH.
- Danforth Campus: DUC (DUC & Event Management* Ste 322*), Office of Sustainability* (Myers Hall, South 40), Millbrook breakroom (Facilities Department), Hillman Hall (Prevention Research Center* 2nd floor within research suite, near the west indoor garden)
- Office of Public Affairs: 276 N. Skinker Blvd, 3rd Floor (above Kayak’s Coffee)*
- West Campus: Third floor garage entrance
- North Campus: Cafeteria
Please remove light strands from bags and boxes and place them loose directly into the bins.
