With two MetroLink stops at the Danforth Campus and one each at the School of Medicine, West and North campuses, the Washington University in St. Louis community is highly connected to the regional transit system.
Metro Transit
Metro Transit connects the campuses to Clayton; to shopping options in Brentwood, Maplewood and Shrewsbury; the Delmar Loop, Lambert Airport, and the University of Missouri-St. Louis. The Central West End, Grand Center arts district and downtown St. Louis are also accessible via Metro Transit. Learn more about public transportation options on the Parking & Transportation Services website and the Metro Transit website.
Find the easiest way to get to campus by transit with WashU Rides, the one-stop source for your commute planning needs. You can use the interactive map to identify transit routes around campus and find the fastest route to/from your home. All you need to access it is your WUSTL Key.
WashU subsidizes a free U-Pass for all full-time faculty, students and staff, granting access to St. Louis’s entire public transportation system. MetroLink light rail and MetroBus routes span 46 miles in Missouri and Illinois, anchored by 37 different stations. WashU functions as one of Metro’s largest supporters with its U-Pass program contributing $2 million a year to the agency. Additionally, Chancellor Mark Wrighton served as steering committee chair in 2010 to pass Proposition A, a half-cent sales tax increase in St. Louis County that is providing Metro with an additional $75 million a year in revenue. The university’s activism has helped secure longevity for a transportation system that keeps 45,000 cars off the road each day.

WashU has an extensive shuttle network connecting the Danforth, Medical, North, West, and South campuses to each other as well as to surrounding neighborhoods. View routes on the shuttle system homepage.
