Volunteer for SOS Move-Out Drive

Share Our Stuff (SOS) is Washington University’s annual move-out donation drive. Each year during on- and off-campus move-out, our campus community is responsible for the disposal of a tremendous amount of usable goods. These goods can be reused by people in need within our campus community and throughout our surrounding neighborhoods. Share Our Stuff is a university-wide effort designed to make it easy for all students to donate their unwanted items at move out in a manner that benefits our community and keeps usable goods out of the landfill.

If you would like to help reduce WashU’s environmental impact, volunteer with SWAP for May Collections! SWAP, or Sharing With a Purpose, is WashU’s only student-run non-profit business that facilitates the exchange of physical resources and knowledge through the Trading Post, an on-campus freecycling space. With your help, SWAP can save more than 7,000 pounds of appliances, storage bins, shelves, books, and more from landfills.

Volunteers will work to collect donations from dorms on the South 40 so that it can be sold in the fall to incoming students. The proceeds from the sale fund SWAP’s operating budget for the entire year. Sign-up to volunteer here, or email the group at swapstl@gmail.com with any questions.
