Scrubs Recycling Drive

From September 7, 2021 at 12:00 am to October 31, 2021 at 12:00 am

As of September 30th, many scrub wearing WUSM employees are now required to wear red, black, and gray scrubs. Instead of chucking your old scrubs into the trash, bring them back to work! The Operations & Facilities Management Department, in partnership with the Office of Sustainability and MedNik Riverbend Textiles, is hosting a scrubs collection* to prevent scrubs from entering the landfill.

MedNik Riverbend accepts donated textiles and recycles them into industrial strength cleaning products. Since 1930, the company has become the Midwest’s foremost recycler of industrial textiles, so rest assured your scrubs are in good hands!

The only requirement to recycling your scrubs is that they must be clean and have the WashU logo removed before dropping off at one of the designated collection sites:

McDonnell Pediatric Research building
BJCIH lobby
Clinical Sciences Research Building/BJCIH link
FLTC atrium
4444 Forest Park lobby
Taylor Avenue Building lobby
McDonnell Science lobby
Mid Campus Center link by SLCH, Duncan or Metro garage(s)
Clayton/Taylor Parking Garage
Check with your supervisor about department specific drop off locations

In addition, there will be a collection bin provided at the Electronic Waste & Paper Shredding Drive on Tuesday, October 19th, from 7:30am – 11:00am located at the Food Truck Drive off the corner of Scott Ave and Taylor Ave.

*We are accepting any form of outdated WashU branded clothing, including lab coats and old t-shirts that cannot be donated. Please ensure these items are clean and the WashU logo has been removed.
