Outlets for Additional Donations

Students living in off-campus Residential Life housing (only) can leave additional types of donations in the basement of their building or similar area as directed by Res Life during their scheduled move out process. For details, click here.

Plan ahead.

If the curbside pick up dates don’t correspond with your moving schedule, consider donating your large items and electronics the Friday before you leave. You can also donate other items in the days leading up to your move out. Click here for a guide to local agencies currently accepting a wide variety of donations to support the St. Louis community during the COVID crisis. Your donations make a difference!

Please request curbside pick up for qualified donations here. Note that requests received the day of the event may not be picked up.

The time period to schedule a donation pick up has passed. Visit the Share Our Stuff page on the Office of Sustainability website for a list of agencies currently accepting donations of a wide variety of items.

Lightening Your Load (LYL) is an event that is part of Share Our Stuff (SOS), Washington University’s annual move-out donation drive. Each year during on- and off-campus move-out, our campus community is responsible for the disposal of a tremendous amount of usable goods. These goods can be reused by people in need within our campus community and throughout our surrounding neighborhoods. Share Our Stuff is a university-wide effort designed to make it easy for all students to donate their unwanted items at move out in a manner that benefits our community and keeps usable goods out of the landfill.
