WashU is partnering with the Missouri Botanical Garden and the Midwest Renewable Energy Association to offer a second phase of Grow Solar St. Louis!
Grow Solar is a group-buy program for residential solar that makes it easier for homeowners and small businesses to install solar and slash their carbon emissions. The program is designed to bring down the cost, provide free education to get people over the learning curve, and pre-select a high quality solar company through a competitive bid process to save homeowners time.
The more people who participate in the program, the greater the savings. Due to the success of the first phase of Grow Solar (71 homes), the average participant saved an additional $600 beyond their contract price, which comes in the form of a rebate check when the majority of installations have been completed.
The current Grow Solar program has already surpassed the first volume discount milestone of 50kw (0.5% savings) and is well on the way to hitting the second milestone of 150 kw (1% savings). If you have considered solar, you are curious to learn the basics, and/or you want to take tangible action to address climate change, check out Grow Solar.
The program is built around live weekly 1-hr education sessions (all via Zoom) called “Power Hours” to introduce the program, the basics of solar, the basics of back-up battery systems, and answer your questions about costs/technology/etc. Following the sessions, you can get a free site assessment from StraightUp Solar to identify if your home or small business is suitable for solar. Visit the websites below to learn more and for a full list of upcoming Power Hour sessions.

In addition, WashU is partnering with Renew Missouri to launch Renew STL Solar, a group-buy program for commercial and non-residential buildings. Like the residential Grow Solar program, Renew STL Solar is also teaming with StraightUp Solar as a pre-selected installer and offers discounts based on the total volume of solar installed.
