As part of ongoing efforts to make waste diversion simple and straightforward, new pictorial bin labels have been developed and will soon be found across campus.
The labels are being released in tandem with the streamlining of campus waste infrastructure to the national color standard of blue for recycling and green for compost. In addition to new lids, bins are now receiving color-coded liners. The new labels help elucidate what can be a confusing topic: what exactly goes where. These combined efforts aim to bring WUSTL’s consumer landfill diversion rate from 27 percent in 2012 to 40 percent in 2014.
You can help! Remember, when in doubt, recycle!
