Staff Feature: Emma Lawrence

Emma Lawrence joined Washington University’s School of Medicine in May 2015 in the Facilities Management Department (FMD) as an Administrative Coordinator for Melissa Rockwell-Hopkins and Jim Stueber. Recently, Emma has taken on a new role as the Department’s Communication and Program Coordinator.

Of her time here at WUSM, Emma said “I am so excited to be part of such an amazing organization that encourages growth, diversity, and life-long learning.”

Emma received her Bachelor of Science in Human Resources from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. She brings significant experience in administrative policies and procedures, staff support, strategic planning, and recruitment.

In her first ten months at WUSM, she ably handled many detailed-oriented tasks for the department leadership. In her new role, Emma coordinates all community outreach initiatives for FMD, including United Way, PB&Joy food drive, and the annual Holiday Outreach program, as well as employee recognition nominations and events. She also coordinates the Lactation Room program and facilitates the School of Medicine’s Sustainability Action Team (SAT), which meets quarterly and often includes guest speakers presenting on relevant topics. She is coordinating the WUSM Earth Day event that takes place on April 14, as well.
