Fall Foraging Tour

October 1, 2024
12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
1 Brookings Drive, at the base of the steps

Celebrate the fall season–and coincidentally, World Vegetarian Day–with an exploration of edible plants on campus. The tour will be led by Froggi VanRiper. Froggi is a lecturer in Environmental Studies, and a scholar of wild edibles from youth.  Froggi has foraged across the US, with a particular focus on the edible plants and fungi of Missouri and Southern Illinois since 1999.

The tour will begin at 12 pm at the bottom of the Brookings steps. The first ten people to register who attend the tour will receive a free reusable bamboo cutlery kit, courtesy of the Office of Sustainability.

This event is open to all students, faculty and staff.

This event is co-sponsored by Environmental Studies and the Center for the Environment.

Individuals with food allergies should be particularly cautious when trying new foods.

Please note that we cannot guarantee what will be growing and available to forage. A list of anticipated foraged items will be posted below as the event approaches.
